Okay, I went and ran errands yesterday and as part of them, I stopped at several stores to see what was on sale and what could be gotten for reasonable prices with respect to BCB and the appetizers we’re going to serve.
I’ve decided on the dates, though just a pound of them because they’re expensive. Stuffed with a mix of blue and mild white farmer’s cheese sounds good, but wrapped in the peppered bacon for a little unexpected zing (and because that bacon was on sale). Thanks to everyone who thought this was a fabulous idea and damn you all for making me hungry while I was shopping.

One of the things we’re doing for Big City Ball 2008 is supply a nice selection of appetizers for people attending. I may have mentioned that this year’s theme is “The Golden Age of Hollywood.” Several of us are making 2-3 appetizers for people attending and I’ve been in the basement for the last couple of hours surrounded by every cookbook that might be of use in this matter. I’m having a little trouble deciding.

A complete case of Synchronicity, likely brought on by discussions of Big City Ball 2 and the tours we took of the Royal Oak Woman’s Club. Both Becky and I dressed up in the style of Rosie the Riveter. I still think Beck’s smile was from pounding jello shots. (Luv ya, Beck!)
The 41 year old bottle of VO that we discovered unloved and unwanted was particularly tasty. The Big Guy’s costume was particularly inspired, I thought, but almost no one got it. The winning costume (set) was The Flintstones (brilliant!).
PS: Yes this is one of the rare times when I’ll let you all see a picture of me. Most of them I don’t like. This one I’m not fond of, but I love Beck, so it goes up.

I spent a thoroughly enjoyable evening laughing and having a great time with at the home of arianna_pheadra and dukeeliahu last night chatting with a group of friends. Before we knew it, *poof* it was 2am. Wow. Part of the evening was to confirm something that I’ll give you all advance warning of now for the first time….
It looks like we’re going to be able to host “Big City Ball 2” this New Year’s Eve. We’ll be limited to 100 guests (not much of a problem as I think we had 75 for BCB1), but expect to see news of this starting to trickle in soon. We’ll start putting together the website and announcements in short order. (If you’re interested in seeing info about BCB1, check out the website from the 2006-2007 party).
