Work submitted, with the following note:
I am now officially on vacation. I will be hot, sweaty, tired, and entirely too happy about all of these things for the next two weeks as I am camping in the foothills of PA. I will be unable to answer email or phone calls during that time, but I will return on roughly the 10th of August. Please feel free to send me email in the interim and I’ll read it when I return with my sunburn.
Time to finish packing.

So much for the awesome mood I’ve been in. Mr Man just found out his employer lost their contract with Chrysler. Waiting on word what’s going to happen. I initially hear 60 days business as usual then 60 days of transition. I suspect it’s more like 30 and 30. No idea of new account placements, no idea of anything. *sigh*

I had a development meeting yesterday that ended half an hour early and while I was silently cursing the need to go into the office for a mere half an hour, I took a chance on snagging a developer saying “Hey, what can you show me on X topic,” and fully expecting to get the brush off I’ve been getting because they’ve all been so wicked heads-down busy trying to get ready for run off.
What I ended up getting was a full 45 minutes of “This is how this works and why an admin or engineer would want to use it” and followed closely on the heels of that was a second developer who said “hey, can I sit down with you and show you this configuration file and why it’s organized the way it is?”.
I looked behind me to make sure he was talking to me. Seriously.
I didn’t get home until after 6pm yesterday. I can’t even remember the last time that happened. I’m having trouble getting everything out of my brain and onto paper before I lose it. I wish I’d had a tape recorder!

I brought in two pounds of roast beast to a meeting today as a blatant bribe. The developers didn’t want to meet with me. In fact, all but two bailed from the room the minute I walked in. Ah, but I had an ace up my sleeve with the meat. I got three of them back over the course of the hour, and all for roast beast. They were speechless.
“Why did you do this? You didn’t have to.”
“I have 45 minutes to fit in the social niceties that you guys have weeks or years to develop. I know food. It’s what I do. You’re hungry, aren’t you?”
“Yeah but I don’t see how that…”
“Eat. Stay or go, but at least eat.”
“Ok. What were we supposed to talk about here?”
Muahahahahah. Roast beast works better than cookies with these guys. I totally called it.
